Arctic Fresh Construction Projects

Building Capacity in the North

A Different Approach to Construction in Nunavut

We involve youth, elders and the other members and businesses within our communities to ensure solutions are Northern-driven. But the Arctic Group’s mission goes beyond community consultation. We must focus on ensuring the people in our communities are an integral part of these local projects now and into the future.

When new northern infrastructure is owned and operated by the people in our communities, we create more local capacity and help Nunavut become more self-sufficient.

By Developing a Pool of Skilled Trades Workers Locally, We Are Empowering Inuit

We are successfully developing a pool of local Inuit trade workers including plumbers, electricians and even site supervisors. This ensures the people and communities benefit from these construction projects.

Hiring and supporting more Inuit on construction sites creates local jobs, reduces the cost of construction, and keeps more money in Nunavut.

Arctic Fresh Group significantly surpasses the minimum requirement of having 20% Inuit participation in Nunavut construction projects. Even more than that, we work to increase the number of skilled trades workers and not just general labourers on our sites.

Increasing Affordability while Building Capacity

Turning abandoned buildings into affordable homes is an ingenious way to tackle the increasing demand for housing.

Not only does this initiative contribute to the goal of increased capacity but repurposing existing structures saves them from deterioration and reduces costs to positively impact the lives of those who need it most.

Building from a strong foundation
ensures a successful future.

Creating Sustainable Energy While Reducing Costs

We are collaborating with partners to develop clean energy solutions using a combination of wind and solar power. Harnessing the power of nature paves the way toward a sustainable future.

Bringing solar and wind energy to remote Arctic communities not only means big savings but is also environmentally beneficial for everyone.

Collaboration is the key, and through partnerships with experts, governments, and our communities we make a greater impact on the world we live in.

The Power of Community

In the vast and rugged region of Baffin, where the biting cold and harsh terrain is a constant challenge, the tight-knit communities have learned to rely on each other for survival.

In this remote part of the world, where resources are scarce and people often feel isolated and forgotten, the act of giving becomes all the more powerful.

Arctic Fresh Group donates Christmas Hampers to almost every home in the Baffin Region every year. More than just food and gifts, they are a symbol of hope and solidarity.

We are always stronger together!
