How Arctic Fresh Was Born
Rhoda Recinos (CEO) experienced food insecurity as a child. She later went on to be a teacher and once again was seeing many kids hungry in school. Some of the children were not always able to have breakfast and often showed up without their lunch.
Rhoda enjoyed being a teacher but felt deep down she was meant to make an impact in other ways. These personal experiences watered the seeds that would be born into Arctic Fresh.
We see a Canada without hunger and believe everyone should have access to affordable healthy food.

We are an Inuit owned social enterprise with more than 90% Inuit staff. Through our many projects, we empower the communities we engage with in Nunavut adding value specifically in terms of food, aviation, and construction needs. Food security is at the “macro,” of all we do. We focus on affordable housing, supply chain, capacity building, traditional knowledge, innovation, and clean energy to support this work.

Over the last few years Arctic Fresh was developed, consistently grown, and became more established. We are proud to say we hit many targets in terms of improving food security, providing healthy affordable foods, and hiring mostly Inuit to work in our business. These milestones and foundation allowed us to develop other areas like training and mentoring to build capacity. This capacity development led to us launching a construction division and an aviation division. We always seek to collaborate while innovating to create opportunities that foster positive sustainable change.
